Training
We at Clarke School for the Deaf offer a variety of workshops and training programs to prepare special educators, rehabilitation professionals and parents to work with children with special needs and provide opportunities to learn and develop new skills that will benefit the students. The Clarke School has full time Teacher Training Programs recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Diploma in Special Education Hearing Impairment - DSE (HI)
The Clarke School started its first Teacher Training Program in Hearing Impairment in the year 1980 but we got the RCI recognition to run the course from 1990. It is a two year course and 380 educators have received training to teach the Hearing Impaired till date.
Diploma in Special Education Mental Retardation- DSE (MR)
We received recognition from RCI to run the Diploma in Special Education - Mental Retardation in the year 1995. It is a two year course and 150 educators have received training to teach the Mentally Retarded till date.
Diploma in Special Education Deaf-blindness – DSE (Db)
In the year 2002 the school started the RCI recognized Diploma course in Deafblindness, making ours the second such centre in India providing this training. It is a two year course and we have trained around 150 special educators for children with deafblindness till date.
B.Ed. Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
The school is the study centre for Distant Education Program for the Bachelor’s degree in Special Education B. Ed. (H.I) by Tamil Nadu Open University. Every year nearly 50 professionals are being trained under this program.
